Dangote Refinery has increased its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit to N1,275 per litre, raising concerns over a fresh round of fuel price adjustments across the country. The refinery also suspended product sales following a disruption in its Proforma Invoice system.

Price data from Petroleumprice.ng, confirmed by a refinery official on Wednesday, showed that petrol loading costs rose from N1,200 per litre to N1,275 per litre, while coastal supply prices moved up to N1,215 per litre.

According to Punch News, the company official confirmed the adjustment, saying,  “Yes, the increase of PMS to N1,275 per litre is true. Coastal price is N1,215.”

Another source familiar with operations said the refinery halted its Proforma Invoice processing around 4:00 pm on Tuesday, a move that disrupted routine scheduling across its loading terminals.

The source added that the pause in the system led to a temporary suspension of petrol and Automotive Gas Oil sales.

The combined price change and operational halt have sparked concern among traders and marketers, who are now anticipating higher depot costs and possible increases in retail fuel prices nationwide.

Industry operators said such disruptions typically feed quickly into logistics and distribution costs, placing additional pressure on the downstream market.

The development comes as global crude oil prices rises, which have increased feedstock costs for refiners.

Brent crude was trading at $114.80 per barrel at 10:35 am (WAT), up 3.15 percent, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $103.40 per barrel, a 3.49 percent increase.

Analysts link the surge in crude prices to heightened geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route, which has pushed up replacement costs for refiners and contributed to higher refined product pricing.
