Pan-African activist Kemi Seba will remain in South African custody following the postponement of his bail hearing on Wednesday.
Seba, who was arrested earlier this month during an undercover police operation, faces serious allegations from prosecutors who claim he was involved in planning “terror attacks in Europe.”
The activist is also wanted in his ancestral home of Benin on charges of inciting rebellion related to a failed coup attempt in late 2025.
The arrest occurred on April 13 as Seba, his teenage son, and Francois van der Merwe, leader of the Afrikaner group Bittereinders, reportedly attempted to flee to Zimbabwe.
Investigators allege the group planned to travel illegally across the border before flying to Europe.

During the operation, which involved undercover officers posing as security contractors, police seized over 315,000 rand intended for smuggling fees.
Seba’s legal team has dismissed the terrorism claims as an attempt to demonise his character and confirmed that he has formally applied for political asylum in South Africa.
As authorities continue to trace the financial trail of the alleged escape plot, the court has scheduled the next hearing for May 11.
The case has drawn significant attention due to Seba’s high-profile anti-Western activism and the unusual alliance with local nationalist figures.
