Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed firm belief that he can restore his rapport with the Anfield faithful by revitalising the squad next season.

The Dutchman faced a difficult atmosphere on Saturday following a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, which was marked by full-time boos and vocal criticism of his tactical substitutions.

Despite the friction, Slot remains confident that a successful summer transfer window and a fresh start will lead to a significant transformation in the team’s performance and results.

The current campaign has been overshadowed by the tragic pre-season loss of Diogo Jota and a relentless injury crisis that has sidelined key stars like Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz.

Although the club spent over £450 million in the recent window, the squad has struggled for consistency, currently sitting in fourth place.

Slot emphasised that the lack of fit, available players has been a primary hurdle, noting that even record-signing Alexander Isak was only available for a limited role in the latest match.

Addressing the specific backlash regarding his decision to substitute teenage talent Rio Ngumoha, he clarified that the move was necessitated by the 17-year-old suffering from cramps.

He acknowledged the frustration of the supporters but maintained that he must make pragmatic managerial decisions, even when they are unpopular.

While he does not expect to change minds before the current season ends, the manager is convinced that the club’s long-term planning will yield a much stronger side in the coming year.
