Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been sworn in for his seventh term as President of Uganda, taking the Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Tuesday.
“I shall faithfully exercise the functions of the President of Uganda and shall uphold, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and observe the laws of Uganda and promote the welfare of the people of Uganda,” Museveni said as he took the Oath of Office.

He also recited the Oath of Allegiance: “I swear in the name of Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and I will preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.”

In a memorable moment, Museveni received the National Flag, Presidential Standard Flag, National Anthem, National Coat of Arms, and Public Seal from the Chief Justice, symbolising the official start of his new term.

The ceremony was attended by several African leaders and dignitaries, including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who arrived in elegant white attire, bringing warm Nigerian greetings to the East African nation.

Museveni’s swearing-in marks the continuation of his decades-long rule, which began in 1986. His seventh term comes after a controversial election that extended his grip on power in the East African country.
