Lewandowski Ends Barcelona Journey

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave FC Barcelona this summer after bringing an end to a successful four-year spell with the Spanish champions.

The 37-year-old Polish forward announced his departure in a message posted on Instagram, describing his time at the club as a period filled with “challenges and hard work.”

Lewandowski said the moment had come to move on after helping Barcelona return to the top of Spanish football following a difficult financial and sporting period.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski wrote. “I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.”

Since arriving from FC Bayern Munich in 2022, Lewandowski has scored 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions. He played a major role in Barcelona’s domestic resurgence, helping the club secure three La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey in 2025.

The veteran striker reflected warmly on his relationship with the club and supporters, saying Barcelona had become deeply personal to him.

“Barca is back where it belongs,” he said. “I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth.”

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed Lewandowski would start against Real Betis on Sunday in what will be his final appearance at Camp Nou. Flick, who previously coached Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, praised the striker’s professionalism and influence on younger players.

“He’s a perfect role model for young players,” Flick said. “He’s a fantastic human, but also a world-class player.”

Barcelona also paid tribute to the forward on social media, thanking him for “every goal, every fight, and every magical moment,” adding that “he arrived as a star, he leaves as a legend.”

Lewandowski finished as La Liga’s top scorer in his debut season under Xavi Hernandez and remained an important figure under Flick, scoring 18 goals in 44 matches this season despite increased rotation with Ferran Torres.

While Lewandowski has not revealed his next destination, reports have linked him with moves to clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
