The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects over violent clashes that disrupted the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in the Egbe area of Alimosho Local Government.

The incident reportedly occurred on Onilewura Street along Liasu Road on Saturday, when armed hoodlums stormed the venue and began shooting sporadically, causing panic among party members and residents.

The violence disrupted the electoral process, forcing delegates, party officials and voters to flee the scene, while several participants sustained injuries.

He said a locally made firearm was recovered from them during the operation and dismissed reports suggesting that anyone was killed in the incident.

“The hoodlums responsible for the disturbance have been arrested and taken to Ikotun Divisional Police Station. A gun was  also recovered from them,” he said.

Adeoye said investigations were ongoing to discover those behind the violence and their motives, adding that those responsible would face prosecution.

He urged residents to remain calm and support security agencies with useful information.

The violence broke out before voting commenced in the APC House of Representatives primary for Mushin Constituency II, leaving the exercise suspended as tensions escalated at the venue.

Witnesses said disagreements among supporters of rival aspirants triggered panic, leading to a stampede as participants fled for safety.

Among the aspirants contesting the ticket were Seye Oladejo and incumbent lawmaker Oluwatoyin Fayinka, who is seeking re-election.

Party officials are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
