A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in the sum of 100 million naira with one surety in like sum.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in her ruling, imposed several conditions that the defendant must meet before perfecting the bail.
The court ruled that the surety must reside in either the Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and must deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property at the court registry.
The surety must also be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and must provide evidence of salary payments for at least three months, authenticated by a letter from a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
The surety was also required by the court to sign an affidavit of means, sign a bail bond, and provide the court registry with a recent passport photo.

El-Rufai is required to deposit all current foreign passports with the court registry as part of the bail requirements.
The court also required a verification letter from the surety’s immediate department and a tax clearance certificate for the previous six months.
Justice Abdulmalik also ordered the defendant to report to the Department of State Services headquarters every last Friday of the month by 10am to sign the attendance register, pending the determination of the case.
The judge cautioned that bail would be automatically revoked if the terms were not met.
The court also ordered the defendant to provide a letter of attestation from the Kaduna Traditional Council chairman.
