Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has vowed to expose the politicians sponsoring the recent abduction of students in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Igboho delivered this warning on Wednesday at his Ibadan residence while speaking to the newly elected executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde.

In a video captured by Wisdom TV, the activist claimed that prominent politicians supply the bandits with money and ammunition to deliberately destabilise the current administration.

The security crisis escalated following a May 15 attack where bandits abducted at least 45 pupils from three local schools, including Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School.

Tensions in the state flared further after a video surfaced on Telegram showing that the kidnappers gruesomely beheaded one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun.

According to local teacher Elizabeth Olagoke, the assailants spoke a mix of Yoruba, Hausa, and Pidgin English before fleeing into a nearby forest reserve.

Igboho asserted that he volunteered his team to dislodge the bandits from their forest hideouts, but the Seyi Makinde-led Oyo State government blocked his intervention.

The state government informed him that the kidnappers threatened to kill all 47 abductees if he attempted a forced rescue.

Igboho denied demanding any financial compensation from the state for the rescue operation and insisted his men could easily flush out the criminals if given the mandate.

The activist connected the insecurity to a broader political conspiracy, comparing current events to past efforts to undermine former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He argued that saboteurs are using fake news propaganda and mass abductions to make the country ungovernable for President Bola Tinubu.

Igboho questioned why critics are attempting to ruin the administration of a fellow Yoruba man when former President Muhammadu Buhari completed his tenure.

He noted that Tinubu previously liberated him from exile, cementing his loyalty to the current president.

Despite receiving Nigerian government backing for his new initiative, the “Iru Ekun Security Network,” the Oyo State government has restricted his group from operating to avoid endangering the captive children.

Igboho stated that he remains unafraid of personal retaliation because his family resides safely abroad in Canada and Germany.

Moving forward, the activist plans to officially launch his security network to clear criminal elements from the South-West forests while pledging full compliance with Governor Makinde’s recent Executive Order regulating private security firms.
