A total of 416 women and children abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State have been released, according to the President of the Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA), Samaila Kaigama.
Kaigama confirmed the development to journalists on Sunday, saying the captives regained their freedom on Saturday.
He attributed the release to sustained engagement, advocacy, and discussions to secure the victims’ freedom, expressing satisfaction that the efforts had yielded results.

“BOSYA has secured the release of all the Ngoshe 416women and children. They were released 06 of June.
“We are happy and grateful that through our efforts, our persistent cries, and long discussions, the results are now being seen,” Kaigama said.
The BOSYA leader called on the Nigerian Government, the Borno State Government and relevant local authorities to ensure proper screening and rehabilitation of the released captives.
The victims were abducted following a Boko Haram attack on Ngoshe on March 4. During the assault, the insurgents reportedly overran a military base, set operational vehicles ablaze, dispersed security personnel, killed an unspecified number of people and abducted residents.
Ngoshe lies less than 10 kilometres from the Cameroonian border in the Gwoza hills, a Boko Haram stronghold, and has come under repeated attack.
