Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has joined other world leaders at the G7 Summit to ramp up pressure on Russia to end the war.
Zelensky and United States President Donald Trump, who has sought to engage Russian President Vladimir Putin in peace efforts, were among leaders who met at the French resort of Évian-les-Bains on Tuesday,
The Ukrainian president received a warm reception from French President Emmanuel Macron, who is hosting the 2026 G7 Summit in France.
Macron, like Trump, has also been involved in European efforts to increase pressure on Russia to end the ongoing war.
Zelensky’s attendance at the G7 Summit on Tuesday marked the start of the second day of the three-day meeting, which will later include a session on Iran attended by Arab leaders.

According to AFP, European leaders are keen to remind Trump of the importance of ensuring Russia accepts a peace deal on Kyiv’s terms, rather than pressuring Ukraine into making concessions to Moscow.
Zelensky had called for a “decisive and substantive” response from G7 leaders on Monday following the latest wave of Russian strikes, which killed at least 11 people and triggered a fire at a landmark cathedral in Kyiv.
He said he had proposed a meeting with Putin at the G7 Summit in France, but that he was “not ready” for such talks.
The Ukrainian President also said he had suggested to Trump that he could meet Putin in the United States, adding that Putin would find such an offer “harder to refuse.”
Trump expressed optimism upon arriving at the summit on Monday, saying that “maybe we can do something” on Ukraine at the G7.
“They’re both open to it. I had two very good conversations yesterday,” Trump said.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Keir Starmer, said the UK will impose new sanctions on Russia and supply enriched uranium to Ukraine to support its war effort.
Starmer described Russia’s strikes on Ukraine as barbaric, adding that the UK is “stepping up” by “choking off the revenues that fuel Putin’s war and powering Ukraine through the winters ahead.”
