The United States has condemned an attack on a village in Kaduna State that reportedly killed at least 30 people, including children.
It also urged the Nigerian government to address the “rampant violence against Christians in the Middle Belt.”
The condemnation was contained in a short statement posted on Saturday by the Bureau of African Affairs through its official X account.
“The United States condemns the early morning July 27 attack on a village in Nigeria’s Kaduna State that reportedly killed at least 30 people, including children,” the bureau said.
“We express our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. We will continue to urge the Government of Nigeria to address rampant violence against Christians in the Middle Belt.”

The attack occurred in Naridon village, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, when armed men reportedly stormed the community shortly before midnight, opening fire on residents and setting homes ablaze.
According to the secretary to the village head, Dogon Rana, at least 30 people, including eight children, were killed, while four others sustained injuries.
“We have confirmed the killing of 30 people, but we are afraid the death toll may rise because some of the injured are in critical condition,” Rana said.
President Bola Tinubu also condemned the attack, describing it as “an unprovoked act of terror against defenceless people” and vowing that those responsible “will not go unpunished.”
“I have directed the Armed Forces, police, and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly, secure the release of abducted individuals, and restore normalcy to the region,” Tinubu said in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
“Our administration has an unwavering commitment to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel, and neutralising criminal networks attempting to disrupt the peace of the nation.
“I urge our local communities to cooperate with security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would help early response efforts.”
