An unidentified projectile struck and damaged an oil tanker in the strategic Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to the British maritime security agency UKMTO.
The strike immediately follows a tense exchange of fire between the United States and Iran, marking their first military clash since signing a peace agreement to end the Middle East war.
UKMTO confirmed that the vessel sustained damage to its bridge, though the entire crew remains safe.
Another British marine security firm, Vanguard Tech, identified the targeted vessel as the Panama-flagged tanker KIKU.

The maritime attack coincided with an announcement from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, who confirmed they launched retaliatory strikes against American positions in the Gulf following US bombardments on Iranian territory.
