Iran launched retaliatory attacks against US sites in the Gulf on Saturday following American airstrikes on the country, according to Iranian state media.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the strikes and warned of a broader response if the United States repeats its aggression.

The exchange of fire follows Washington’s accusations that Tehran previously attacked a commercial cargo ship transiting the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The recent flare-up threatens a fragile ceasefire agreement that aimed to end the Middle Eastern war.

US Central Command stated that its forces initially struck Iranian missile, drone, and radar sites on Friday to punish Iran’s aggression against commercial shipping.

President Donald Trump condemned the suspected Iranian drone strike as a foolish violation of the ceasefire, while Vice President JD Vance warned that the US would meet any further violence with violence.

Despite the rising tension in the Gulf, oil prices fell sharply as markets anticipate that traffic will continue through the vital Hormuz waterway.

Meanwhile, the conflict’s diplomatic landscape shifted as Israel, Lebanon, and the US signed a peace framework in Washington.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the deal as a victory that excludes Iranian influence, though Hezbollah supporters quickly launched protests in Beirut to denounce the agreement.
