US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the ceasefire with Iran is officially “over” following heavy exchanges of fire between American military forces and the Islamic Republic.
Speaking at a NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye, Trump launched a fierce verbal attack against Iran’s leadership, calling them “scum,” “liars,” and “cuckoo” after Washington executed overnight airstrikes on Iranian targets and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards retaliated against US bases in the Gulf.
Following Trump’s combative remarks, global oil prices surged by five per cent.
The US President accused Iranian officials of repeatedly misrepresenting the terms of the June 17 truce, specifically regarding agreements to halt nuclear weapon development.
While Trump indicated he would consult with his key negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, he insisted that any potential return to the bargaining table rests entirely with Tehran.

He emphasised that continuing discussions with the current Iranian regime would be a waste of time, warning that leadership in Tehran remains too vicious and violent to hold a nuclear weapon safely.
