Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner Chinenyenwa Mercy Eke, popularly known as Mercy Eke, has admitted that she regrets taking part in the reality TV show despite the opportunities and success it brought her.

Eke made the revelation during an interview on Toke Moments, a show hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa, that aired on Saturday.

The reality star, who won the 2019 edition of Big Brother Naija and later returned for the All Stars season, said the fame that came with the show has made it difficult for her to enjoy peace and privacy.

“I regret going to Big Brother, even though I love the benefits that come from it,” she said.

According to Eke, the constant public attention and comparisons with other people have affected her personal life.

“I wish I didn’t go, because I have friends who… I know people who are like, okay, this person has passed me but nobody’s talking about them, because they are not out there. But me, I’m not doing anything, and I can’t even sleep at night,” she said.

She also explained why she returned for the BBNaija All Stars edition, saying she was motivated by the prize money.

However, she admitted the experience was different from what she expected.

“I felt like all of us, we have money already, but a lot of people were not acting like they didn’t have money before. They were more hungry than me,” she said.

Eke added that she would not participate in the reality show again.

Speaking about life after BBNaija, she said she has focused on working hard, setting personal goals and becoming a better version of herself while drawing inspiration from successful Nigerian women.

“I work hard, I challenge myself, I set goals for myself. A lot of that drives me to become a better version of myself, and then just keep moving, getting things done,” she said.

The reality star also addressed rumours about her personal life, including claims that a married man sponsors her lifestyle.

She dismissed the allegations, saying she has been in a relationship with a single man for four years.

Eke also revealed that she recently completed a master’s degree in the United Kingdom, adding that the programme taught her valuable business and financial management skills.

“No knowledge is a waste,” she said.
