Tunisia Appoint Chaabani as Head Coach

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) appointed Moin Chaabani as head coach of the national team on Tuesday, securing him on a deal through 2030.

Chaabani succeeds Frenchman Hervé Renard, who briefly stepped in for Tunisia’s final two 2026 World Cup group matches following Sabri Lamouchi’s dismissal.

Under Renard, Tunisia suffered defeats to Japan and the Netherlands, ending a disastrous campaign where the national team lost all three group games for the first time in World Cup history.

The 45-year-old former Esperance manager steps into his first national team role after a successful stint with Moroccan club Renaissance de Berkane, where he led the side to the 2024–25 domestic league title and the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup trophy.

Chaabani becomes Tunisia’s eighth head coach since 2024.

He will officially begin his tenure in September as Tunisia open their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Uganda, Libya, and Botswana in Group H.
