Serena, Venus Williams Reunite For Cincinnati Masters

Legendary American tennis players Serena and Venus Williams have resumed their doubles partnership after receiving a wild card entry for this month’s Cincinnati Masters, the final major tournament before the US Open.

The tennis legends, who have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals together, will compete as a pair for the first time since the 2022 US Open.

The sisters were granted a wild card into the hard-court tournament on Monday, with Venus Williams also scheduled to compete in the singles event.

The Cincinnati Masters, which runs from August 8 to 23, is the final major tournament before the US Open.

Serena Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, recently returned to singles action at Wimbledon after a four-year break but lost in the first round.

The 44-year-old had initially planned to partner Venus in doubles at Wimbledon but withdrew after suffering a knee injury.

Serena last played at Cincinnati in 2022, where she lost to Emma Raducanu. She previously won the singles title at the tournament in 2014 and 2015.

Other women’s singles wild cards for the event have been awarded to former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, Taylor Townsend, Caroline Dolehide, Elvina Kalieva, Czech player Darja Vidmanova and France’s Lois Boisson.
