The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has deployed an operational police aircraft to Ogun State to strengthen ongoing security operations to combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.
The deployment followed a request by Governor Dapo Abiodun as part of efforts to reinforce the state’s security architecture and improve the operational capacity of security agencies.
Receiving the aircraft and its crew on behalf of the state government, Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, thanked the Inspector General for approving the request without delay.
He described the deployment as a major boost to security operations across the state, noting that it would enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response to security threats.
Talabi added that the initiative reflected the strong collaboration between the Ogun State Government and security agencies in tackling insecurity.
He said the partnership had continued to deliver positive results in protecting residents and critical infrastructure across the state.
According to him, the aircraft will strengthen Operation Kòsàyè, the state’s joint security operation established to flush out kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements from forests, border communities and other identified flashpoints.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abiodun also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through investments in equipment and logistics needed to maintain peace and public safety.
The deployment comes as security agencies intensify efforts to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes in parts of Ogun State, particularly in forested areas and communities bordering neighbouring states.
The state government has repeatedly pledged to strengthen collaboration with federal security agencies to improve surveillance and protect lives and property.
