Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have raided a bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest and recovered weapons and ammunition.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Wednesday that the operation followed investigations into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying arms, ammunition, and illicit drugs to bandits. The suspects were paraded at the Command Headquarters on July 11, 2026.
According to Adeh, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2 based on credible intelligence provided by one of the suspects, Musbahu Ishaq.
“The operation led the operatives to Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi States, where investigations revealed that the criminal syndicate maintained one of its hideouts,” she said.
She added that investigations showed Ishaq sourced arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who remains at large and is believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
During a search of the hideout, operatives recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed at the location.
Adeh said investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate still at large, recover more weapons linked to the network, and prosecute all those involved.
Following the operation, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and assured residents that operations would continue until all members of the criminal syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice.
He also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
