Russia has shot down 605 Ukrainian drones during overnight attacks across its territory and the annexed Crimean Peninsula, marking one of the largest reported drone interceptions since the war began.
The Russian Defence Ministry announced on Thursday that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed the drones during coordinated overnight attacks.
The ministry said several regions were targeted, including the Tver region, about 180 kilometres northwest of Moscow.
Tver Governor Vitaly Korolyov said air defence systems successfully repelled the attack but confirmed that debris from one of the drones slightly damaged the facade of a Wildberries logistics centre.
“As a result of the fall of debris from one of the drones, the facade of the Wildberries logistics centre was slightly damaged,” Korolyov wrote on Telegram, adding that no injuries were reported.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted facilities linked to Wildberries, one of Russia’s largest online retailers, since mid-July, claiming such sites support Russia’s military operations.
In the Yaroslavl region, around 250 kilometres north of Moscow, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev described the assault as the “most massive attack” on the region, saying 92 drones were destroyed.
He said falling debris prompted fires in homes and damaged several vehicles, but did not immediately report any casualties.
The latest wave of attacks comes as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to intensify, with both sides increasing long-range drone and missile strikes while diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled.
