England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault over an incident at a nightclub in central London, the Metropolitan Police said on Friday.
Toney was charged on July 31 over an incident reportedly involving actual bodily harm at a nightclub in London’s Soho district on December 6 last year, the force said.
The Al-Ahli forward will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.
The Sun reported on December 8 that Toney had been arrested following an alleged headbutt at the nightclub.
A spokesperson for Toney said the striker acknowledged the charge and was looking forward to having the opportunity to clear his name in court.
