An explosive device detonated outside the Benghazi home of Brigadier Fowzi Mansouri on Monday evening, killing eastern Libya’s military intelligence chief in his car.

Security sources speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed the fatal blast in the Hawari area.

The sources provided no further details about the device and did not identify any suspects behind the attack.

The assassination underscores persistent security threats across Libya, where rival administrations and armed factions maintain control despite a 2020 ceasefire.
