Guinea has submitted a bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2032 or 2036, the government announced on Friday.
Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah signed the application, according to a government statement sent to AFP.
Bah stated on Thursday that Guinea “now has a robust bid, the result of a process of preparation and analysis of the various requirements involved in organising a competition of this scale.”
The bids, he claimed, were in line with President Mamadi Doumbouya’s goal “to make Guinea a country capable of hosting major international sporting events.”

Doumbouya won elections in December 2025, consolidating his rule after seizing power in a 2021 coup.
Guinea has never hosted the tournament, and its national team did not take part in the last edition. Its best performance came in 1976 when it finished as runners-up behind Morocco.
The 2027 edition will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The following edition in 2028 has not yet been awarded.
From 2028 onward, the Africa Cup of Nations will be held every four years instead of every two, aligning with other continental competitions.
Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso have also expressed interest in co-hosting the 2032 tournament, according to their football federations.
