Global oil prices slid over three per cent on Tuesday as geopolitical tensions cooled, pushing Brent crude back below $80 a barrel.

Traders recalibrated after the U.S. favoured broader economic sanctions over direct military action against Iran.

Pakistani mediators also reported encouraging diplomatic talks with Iranian leadership, easing supply concerns linked to the Strait of Hormuz deadlock.

However, financial analysts cautioned that investors might be underestimating the risks of a growing U.S.-Canada trade war following fresh counter-tariffs.
