Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji will return to official duties on Monday after completing his two-week annual leave.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, announced this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, saying the leave formed part of Oyebanji’s statutory annual entitlement.
Oyebode said the governor remained engaged with important matters concerning the administration and governance of the state during the break.
He added that Oyebanji was returning to office with renewed energy as preparations for the start of his second term gathered momentum.
“While on leave, Governor Oyebanji, however, attended to crucial matters relating to governance and administration of the State.
“The governor is resuming with renewed vigour as preparations for the commencement of his second-term administration gather momentum,” Oyebode stated.
Oyebanji’s first term is scheduled to end on October 15, with his second term beginning on October 16.
The governor, who contested the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured re-election after defeating his opponents in all 16 local government areas of the state.
His victory made him the first serving governor in Ekiti State to win a second term in office.
Following his re-election, Oyebanji said the renewed mandate would strengthen his administration’s commitment to serving the people of the state.
He pledged to build on the administration’s existing achievements, strengthen the implementation of policies focused on the people and continue to serve with integrity, humility and the fear of God.
Oyebanji also attributed his victory to God and thanked President Bola Tinubu, describing the result as a vote of confidence in the president’s administration.
He said the new mandate meant more work for his administration and pledged to intensify efforts to build on its achievements and sustain policies that had earned public support.
The governor also expressed appreciation for the confidence and support shown by the people of Ekiti State, promising to continue serving them with integrity and the fear of God.
