British Airways Returns To Tanzania After 13 Years

British Airways has announced plans to return to Tanzania with new flights from London to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

The UK flag carrier said Thursday that it will operate three flights weekly from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro International Airport. The flights will then continue to Zanzibar, giving travellers direct access to two of Tanzania’s major tourist destinations.

The new service will begin in late May 2027.

It will mark British Airways’ return to Tanzania 13 years after ending its London-Dar es Salaam route. The airline will also increase flights between London and Cape Town from March 2027.

Kilimanjaro International Airport serves as a gateway to some of Africa’s best-known wildlife destinations. These include the Serengeti, home to the Great Migration, one of the world’s most famous wildlife spectacles.

Meanwhile, Zanzibar is known for its white sandy beaches, marine life, history and rich cultural heritage.

The new routes are expected to strengthen access between the UK and East Africa’s tourism destinations.
