The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Adamu Yakubu of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) the winner of the Sakwa constituency by-election in Bauchi State’s Zaki Local Government Area.
Yakubu emerged victorious after securing 8,515 votes to defeat candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
The APC candidate polled 3,771 votes, while the PDP secured 2,076 votes. The PRP candidate came fourth with 727 votes, according to the results announced by the electoral commission.

The declaration followed INEC officials’ completion of the collation process at the designated collation centre in the constituency.
With the result, Adamu Yakubu will represent the Sakwa constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, following the by-election conducted to fill the vacant seat.
The poll was among the legislative by-elections INEC conducted across parts of the country. The commission deployed officials and electoral materials to polling units in the constituency to oversee the exercise.
INEC has continued to announce results from by-elections held in different constituencies, with returning officers responsible for declaring winners after collation is complete. The commission has also reiterated its commitment to following established electoral procedures in announcing results from the affected constituencies.
