Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike led a delegation of political allies to a closed-door reconciliation meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the governor’s private residence on Sunday.
Speaker Martin Amaewhule headed the legislative contingent from the Rivers State House of Assembly, which joined all 23 local government council chairmen and prominent camp figures for the talks.
This engagement marks the second high-level dialogue between the two leaders in less than two weeks, signalling renewed momentum toward resolving their political rift.

The high-stakes meeting comes amidst a prolonged feud that severely fragmented the state’s political architecture, paralysed local government administration, and sparked intense disputes within the state legislature.

Conflict erupted shortly after Governor Fubara assumed office in May 2023, following a breakdown in relations with his predecessor and former political mentor over governance control and political patronage.
Analysts view this latest round of direct discussions as a crucial step toward restoring administrative stability and easing political tensions across Rivers State.
