Elon Musk said he will give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States next year.
In a post on X on Monday, Musk said the gift would be “the first of many.” He did not say who would qualify, how the shares would be distributed, how he would fund the plan, or when it would begin.
The United States has roughly 73 million residents under 18. At a share price of about $150, the level reported in July, the gift would be worth more than $10 billion. That figure is an estimate, and Musk or SpaceX has not confirmed it.

SpaceX went public on Nasdaq on June 12 at $135 a share and closed its first day of trading at $161. By late July, the stock had fallen about 50% from its post-IPO peak. Musk holds an estimated 82% to 85% of the company’s voting power.
The announcement follows a smaller gift from within the company. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell said she and her husband would give one share to a Trump Account for each of more than two million children.
Musk’s announcement did not say whether his plan would use the same accounts.
