Troops Kill Two Suspected Bandits In Kogi

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke have killed two suspected bandits during an intelligence-led ambush along Adankolo–Apata Road in Kogi State.

The operation took place on Saturday, following credible intelligence about suspected criminals moving around communities in Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja Local Government Areas.

According to a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s X account by the task force’s Acting Media Information Officer, troops of Sector 3 carried out the operation along a suspected supply route. The troops reportedly made contact with the suspected bandits and forced them to flee.

However, during a follow-up search later that morning, soldiers recovered the bodies of two suspected bandits in the Adankolo Forest area. They also recovered a locally made pistol, one cartridge and an empty 7.62mm special ammunition case.

The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke and General Officer Commanding 5 Division, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for the operation.

He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts to tackle criminal activities.
