The faction of the African Democratic Congress led by its factional National Chairman, Nafiu Gombe, has inaugurated its North-West Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen its political structures and coordinate mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration followed a meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus with governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, alongside other stakeholders, in Sokoto State on Friday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, announced Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo as chairman of the council, while Dr Bello Shehu was appointed secretary.

The meeting, held at Giginya Hotel in Sokoto, was convened to harmonise positions and develop a coordinated political strategy for the party ahead of the elections.

Okechukwu said the engagement was aimed at developing a sustainable political roadmap to secure victory for the party in 2027.

“The high-level engagement is convened to deliberate, harmonise positions and chart a coherent, viable and sustainable political roadmap towards securing a decisive and resounding victory for the ADC in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” he said.

He added that the newly inaugurated council would oversee campaign activities across the seven states in the North-West.

“The NWCC will be chaired by Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo, with Dr Bello Shehu serving as secretary, to provide leadership, coordination and strategic direction for the party’s campaign activities across the zone,” Okechukwu stated.

The inauguration was presided over by the Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Bala Sani Kumo.

The Director of Legal and Litigation of the campaign council, Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed members.

In his remarks, Kumo urged the council to establish an inclusive campaign structure, particularly by ensuring the participation of youths, women and persons with disabilities.

He directed the council to incorporate the three groups into its campaign activities and political engagements across the North-West.

The party said it remained committed to an issue-based and people-driven campaign focused on good governance, peace and sustainable development.
