The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has described the massive turnout at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Sokoto State as proof that the state is ready for a change in leadership.

He also described the pairing of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as the strongest political combination in Nigeria.

Addressing the crowd on Wednesday, Mark recounted the overwhelming reception he and the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, received upon arriving in the state.

He noted that the journey from the airport to the rally venue took over three hours due to the sheer volume of supporters lining the roads.

“When we were coming from the airport, several times I thought we had reached the destination because of the number of people that I saw,” Mark said.

“I kept asking the driver, is this the destination? He said, no. I said, ‘ Ah, with all these people, we have not reached the destination.'”

“It took us over three hours from the airport to be here. It shows that Sokoto is more than ready,” he added.

Mark expressed confidence that the state would overwhelmingly support the ADC in the 2027 elections.

“As far as I can see, and as far as I can acknowledge, Sokoto has voted ADC from top to the bottom.”

He also suggested that the incumbent government was intimidated by the prospect of the rally.

“I can see why the government was scared of us coming here to hold this rally. If I was in government, I would be scared too, with this number of people.”

Pointing out the party’s ticket, Mark declared, “The combination of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi is the best combination you can get in this country.”
