United States (US) President Donald Trump has discussed efforts to end the US-Iran war with war mediator, Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent another round of fighting.
Trump called the Qatari leader on Friday to discuss ways to reduce tensions in the region.
According to an AFP report citing a statement from Qatar’s Amiri Diwan, the two leaders discussed “diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region” through Qatar’s mediation.
Sheikh Tamim also stressed the need for continued dialogue. He called for diplomatic solutions to settle disputes and prevent further escalation.

The statement said the Emir “emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and relying on diplomatic means to settle disputes and prevent further escalation.”
The call came following a series of diplomatic contacts involving Iran and Gulf countries. Iran’s foreign minister has also held discussions with regional counterparts as concerns grow over a possible resumption of US strikes.
The diplomatic push follows recent midterm election losses for Trump’s Republican Party, while fears of renewed conflict between Washington and Tehran remain high.
