The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, with the presidential primary scheduled for May 25 and the nomination form priced at 100 million naira, according to a statement from the party.

Bolaji Abullahi, the party’s spokesman, said the timetable provides guidelines and requirements for nominating candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC, he added, is committed to internal democracy, orderliness, and strict compliance with the Electoral Act.

The schedule states that the application forms will be collected between April 1 and May 4, 2026. Nomination forms will be sold from May 5 to May 10, and completed forms must be submitted between May 11 and May 13.

According to the party, candidates will be screened between May 14 and May 15, and the results will be made public on May 17.

On May 18 and 19, appeals resulting from the screening process will be heard, and on May 20, the final list of candidates who were cleared is anticipated.

On May 21, simultaneous ward-level primary elections for Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly seats are planned. The presidential primary is scheduled for May 25. The governorship primary is scheduled for May 22.

The schedule also calls for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27, where candidates will be finally ratified.

Nomination fees

The party set nomination fees based on the position sought: 100 million naira for president, 50 million naira for governor, 20 million naira for the Senate, 10 million naira for the House of Representatives, and 3 million naira for the State House of Assembly.

It also stated that women and people with disabilities will receive a 25% discount, and young people will receive a 50% discount.

ADC also urged all aspirants, members, and stakeholders to follow the timetable closely, noting its commitment to providing a credible platform for competent and accountable leadership in the 2027 elections.
