Nollywood faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return generated over N71 million from single-day preview screenings ahead of its official nationwide release.

Data from the box-office tracking platform Nigerian Box Office (@NGAboxoffice) revealed that the film drew 12,134 viewers between September 25 and October 1, earning N70 million in admissions alone.

The turnout marks the biggest single-day preview gross ever recorded in West Africa, positioning the film at the top of the regional box office and setting the record for the highest first-day admissions in 2026.

Film distributor The Nile Entertainment confirmed that the record-breaking performance makes Agbara Nla: The Return the biggest faith-based opening in West African cinema history.

Celebrating the landmark achievement, the distributor stated, “From the biggest first-day gross for a Nollywood title to the biggest faith-based opener of all time, the biggest single-day previews in West Africa (₦71M+), and the #1 movie of the week. The Legend didn’t just return. It roared back.”

The production arrives in cinemas nationwide 33 years after the 1993 release of the original Agbara Nla, created by Christian filmmaker Mike Bamiloye and later adapted as The Ultimate Power in 1994.

Directed by Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, the modern reimagining follows two Christian converts, Olaboye and Olatomi, who venture into a village controlled by the formidable herbalist Isawuru to preach their faith.

Mike Bamiloye reprises his iconic role as Isawuru, alongside Aanu Kolade Abiodun, Remilekun Mosiko, Philip Olubakin, Gloria Mike-Bamiloye, and David Kola Okeowo.
