The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabiu Shuaibu, as the winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Constituency by-election in Kano State.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Umar Sani, announced the result on Saturday after the collation process concluded.
According to the official results released by INEC, Shuaibu secured 35,356 votes to emerge victorious in the keenly contested election. He defeated his closest rivals, Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who polled 268 votes, and Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP), who garnered 98 votes.

Declaring the result, Sani said the APC candidate met all the constitutional and legal requirements to be returned elected.
“The election was contested. That Rabiu Shuaibu of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he stated.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The exercise was conducted peacefully across polling units in the constituency, with voters turning out to elect a new representative to complete the late legislator’s tenure.
