The Allied People’s Movement has won all 20 chairmanship seats in Monday’s local government council elections in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Monday night, saying APM candidates also secured 319 councillorship seats across the state.
BASIEC Chairperson Jummai Abubakar said candidates from four other political parties won the remaining four councillorship seats.
The seats were shared among the Social Democratic Party, National Rescue Movement, Zenith Labour Party and Young Progressives Party.
Abubakar assured residents that the elections were conducted independently and that the declared winners satisfied the applicable legal requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes in their respective constituencies.
The results were announced amid a boycott by opposition parties in the state.

Members of the Coalition of Opposition Parties had announced on Sunday that they would not participate in the election, alleging that the exercise was designed to favour the ruling APM.
However, Governor Bala Mohammed, shortly after casting his vote, described the election as peaceful.
The governor also said the withdrawal of some political parties would not undermine the legitimacy of the exercise.
The Bauchi State Government had declared Monday a work-free day across the state to allow civil servants and other public servants, including local, state and federal workers based in the state, as well as bank employees, to participate fully in the election.
