Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has reportedly resigned after lawmakers plotted to impeach him, his media aide confirmed on Monday.

Agbebaku stepped down from his position following a push by members of the assembly to remove him from office. 

His media aide, Ivy Ebojele, confirmed the resignation but said details of the circumstances surrounding his exit would be made public later.
