Arsenal fought back from a goal down to defeat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, drawing level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The victory took Mikel Arteta’s side to 15 points after six matches, leaving them behind City on goal difference as the Premier League resumed following the international break.
Arsenal struggled to break down Leeds’ organised defence in the first half, managing just one shot on target before the interval.
Leeds, who had conceded only three league goals before the encounter, threatened through several opportunities, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya kept the visitors at bay.
James Justin broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, giving Leeds the lead after finishing from inside the box following a cross from Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Arsenal responded seven minutes later when Riccardo Calafiori found space in the box and finished past goalkeeper James Trafford after being set up by Ben White.
The hosts completed the comeback when substitute Bruno Guimaraes scored the winning goal following a well-worked move involving Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Arsenal respond after difficult first half
Arsenal entered the match looking to maintain their challenge at the top of the table after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brighton last month.
However, they found it difficult to create clear-cut chances against Daniel Farke’s physically imposing side during the opening period.
Noni Madueke, who started on the left wing in place of the injured Christos Tzolis, struggled to make an impact, while Saka also found opportunities limited on the opposite flank.
Leeds created chances of their own towards the end of the first half. Jayden Bogle was denied from close range by Raya after he and midfielder Anton Stach failed to coordinate their movement.
Raya later produced another save to keep out a shot from Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson from a tight angle.
The match became more open after the restart, with Raya forced to tip over an effort from Leeds midfielder Ao Tanaka before Justin put the visitors ahead.
Arsenal quickly regained control, with Calafiori restoring parity before Guimaraes completed the turnaround.
Focus shifts to Manchester City
Arsenal’s victory came amid renewed scrutiny of Manchester City following an independent commission’s finding that the club breached Premier League financial rules.
City have appealed against the verdict, with the outcome and any potential sanctions still pending.
Pep Guardiola’s former side, now managed by Enzo Maresca, are due to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, where they are expected to encounter a hostile atmosphere following the ruling.
City remain top of the table on goal difference, with a game in hand over Arsenal.
The result leaves the title race finely poised as the season continues, with Arsenal looking to sustain their challenge and City seeking to maintain their position at the summit.
