Bayern Munich Football Club has completed the signing of Germany defender Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt on a contract that runs until 2031, the Bundesliga champions announced on Friday.

The transfer is reportedly worth €55 million ($63 million), with the 23-year-old expected to compete with injury-prone Alphonso Davies for the left-back role.

Brown described Bayern as one of the world’s top clubs and said discussions with head coach Vincent Kompany played a key role in his decision to join the Bavarian side.

He said playing for the biggest trophies at the highest level had always been his ambition and expressed his determination to continue developing his game.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level; I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of myself every day,” Brown said.

Bayern are strengthening their squad after winning the Bundesliga and German Cup last season while also reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

The club also confirmed the signing of Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari earlier this week following his impressive performances at the World Cup.

Sporting director Max Eberl said Brown had made remarkable progress in recent years and believes the defender still has significant room for development.

Eligible to represent the United States through his father, Brown has instead established himself in the Germany national team since making his senior debut in October.

He scored once and provided an assist in Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curacao in their opening World Cup match.

Brown joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Nuremberg in 2024 for a reported fee of €3 million and featured in all but one of the club’s 34 Bundesliga matches last season, scoring four goals and registering four assists.
