A High Court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, following an application by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The order was granted on Thursday after the anti-graft agency filed an ex parte motion in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.

The ICPC told the court that the application became necessary after the former minister allegedly failed to honour several invitations extended to him as part of an ongoing investigation into the allegations.

Counsel to the commission, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, asked the court to authorise the agency to declare Nnaji wanted through newspapers, social media platforms and other channels. The commission also sought an order empowering its operatives, other law enforcement agencies, and private citizens to identify, arrest and hand him over for investigation.

The court granted all the requests and ruled that the order would remain in force until the former minister is arrested.

Court documents showed that the ex parte motion, dated June 3, was filed on June 4 and supported by an affidavit deposed to by one David Nelson.

Nnaji, who was appointed minister by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023, resigned from office over allegations that he submitted forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials during his ministerial screening and confirmation process.

Nnaji recently emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Enugu State for the 2027 election.
