The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has urged Nigerians to celebrate the country’s global achievements instead of focusing only on its challenges.
Speaking during a visit to outstanding Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Dabiri-Erewa praised the accomplishments of Councillor Christopher Adegoke, the first person from an ethnic minority background to chair the Nottinghamshire County Council since its establishment in 1889.
She also visited Rosaline Ogunro, recently inaugurated as Mayor of Islington, who encouraged Nigerians abroad to continue projecting a positive image of the country.

The NiDCOM boss further celebrated the academic excellence of Dorcas Akanbi, who graduated from Rostov State Medical University in Russia with a 4.90/5.00 CGPA, and Monilola Adeshina, who emerged as valedictorian and best graduating student of the Medical Class of 2026 at the Medical University of Silesia in Poland.
Dabiri-Erewa described their achievements as evidence of the talent, resilience and global competitiveness of Nigerians, saying such successes continue to enhance the country’s reputation internationally.
She commended the four Nigerians for making the nation proud and encouraged others in the diaspora to pursue excellence while serving as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.
The NiDCOM chairman also called on Nigerians abroad to contribute to national development through their expertise, investments, skills and international networks, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to recognising and supporting outstanding Nigerians across the world.
