Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has visited the Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area to assess the destruction caused by a recent attack by Boko Haram.

During the visit on Monday, Fintiri expressed concern over the resurgence of attacks in parts of the state, noting that the Guyaku incident happened barely a week after a similar assault in the Wuro Ladde community in Hong Local Government Area.

Residents said at least 30 people were killed in Talla Balla, Guyaku LG, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, leaving the community struggling with heavy losses and renewed security fears. The governor said the attacks are a desperate act by insurgents, likening them to the “last kicks of a dying horse,” while confirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace.

He assured residents that efforts would be increased to protect lives and property across Adamawa. He also pledged closer collaboration with security agencies to strengthen surveillance and improve rapid response mechanisms.

Fintiri was accompanied by top government officials, including the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, the Secretary to the State Government, Auwal D. Tukur, and the Chief of Staff, Edgar Amos, who met with community leaders and residents. Members of the National Assembly representing the affected constituencies were also present during the visit.

Furthermore, the delegation evaluated the extent of the damage and discussed immediate humanitarian needs. Fintiri emphasised that his administration will support affected communities with relief materials and sustained security interventions to restore normality.

Residents also complained of armed men moving from the Mugyahana axis toward the Zah community, and they fear the insurgents are regrouping near Dogon Kuka.
