At least four people have died in northern Vietnam after heavy rains triggered severe flooding and landslides, according to state media on Saturday.
The flooding, which began earlier this week, has damaged more than 238 hectares of rice fields and other crops across four mountainous northern provinces, while floodwaters have also killed or swept away livestock and poultry, the country’s disaster and dyke management authority said.

Authorities have deployed about 500 rescue personnel to search for missing persons and evacuate residents from communities threatened by landslides, state-owned outlet Cong Ly reported.
Official figures show that natural disasters between January and June claimed at least 30 lives in Vietnam and caused losses exceeding $21.7 million.
Vietnam experiences its heaviest rainfall between June and September, although scientists say climate change is making extreme weather events more frequent and more destructive.
