President Bola Tinubu on Saturday assured Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he would not regret his support for the president’s re-election bid, following the governor’s pledge to deliver at least three million votes for him in the 2027 election.
“Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” Tinubu gave this assurance during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, where he thanked Rivers voters for supporting him in the 2023 election and appealed for their backing for a second term.
“Thank you for last election, 2022-2023. I look very hopeless, but you stood out to support me, gave me the mandate,” Tinubu told the crowd.
“The mandate that I used to govern to today, you are a positive contributor. I must thank you for going out there to vote and vote massively for APC,” he said.
Tinubu said he had returned to the state to seek their support again because he believed residents had confidence in his leadership.
“Today again, I return here to say thank you and seek your support for the second term. I’m seeking that support because you believe in me. You believe that I care for you,” he said.

The president also highlighted education, youth welfare and skills development as priorities, saying they were important to both his administration and Nigeria’s future.
He defended his government’s economic policies, claiming that the country had begun moving towards prosperity after a period of financial difficulties.
“When I took over, 27 out of the 36 states were unable to pay salaries. You know what that means to family, dependents, to many markets and the population,” Tinubu said.
“But ever since, we have reversed the decay. We are on the move for prosperity,” he added.
Tinubu also criticised opposition figures, including former vice president Atiku Abubakar, over their comments on economic hardship and questioned how Abubakar established a university while serving in government.

Earlier, Fubara thanked Tinubu for intervening in Rivers State’s political crisis, saying the president’s involvement had helped restore peace and allowed his administration to continue governing.
“As you have stood for us, we will stand for you. As you have supported Rivers State, Rivers State will support you equally,” Fubara said.
The governor pledged to mobilise voters across the state to deliver at least three million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
