Armed bandits killed at least 12 people and abducted several women and children during an overnight raid on Lajinge village in Nigeria’s northwestern Sokoto State.
Witnesses reported that the attackers invaded the village around 11 p.m. Saturday, burning a family of six alive inside their house and stealing livestock before departing early Sunday morning.
The assault underscores escalating violence by armed criminal gangs across northwestern Nigeria, coming just one week after a similar attack left 24 farmers dead in neighbouring Zamfara State.

Police spokesperson Ahmed Rufai confirmed that authorities are actively investigating the incident.
