How to Check 2026 NECO SSCE Result

The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE Internal.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

A total of 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 eventually sat for it.

NECO records drop in malpractice

NECO also reported a significant reduction in examination malpractice.

The council said 1,406 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice in 2026, compared with 3,878 candidates recorded in 2025.

The figure represents a 64.74 per cent reduction in reported malpractice cases, according to the Registrar.

Wushishi attributed the decline to improved examination processes, strengthened monitoring and collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders.

The examination was conducted across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as six foreign countries: Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Saudi Arabia.

1,334 candidates with special needs

NECO said 1,334 candidates with special needs also participated in the 2026 SSCE Internal examination.

The council said it continued to make provisions aimed at ensuring that candidates with special needs could participate in its examinations.

Wushishi commended the Nigerian Government, the Ministry of Education, the NECO Governing Board, the National Assembly, security agencies, state governments and other stakeholders for supporting the conduct of the examination.

He also praised NECO staff for their role in the conduct, marking and release of the results.

How to check the 2026 NECO result

Candidates can check their results through the official NECO results portal at results.neco.gov.ng. The portal requires candidates to select the examination year and type, enter a result-checking token and provide their examination registration number before clicking the result-checking button.

Candidates who sat for the June/July school-based examination should select SSCE Internal (Jun/Jul) as the examination type.

To check the result:

1. Visit the official portal

Open results.neco.gov.ng on a phone, tablet or computer with internet access.

2. Select the examination year

Choose 2026 as the examination year.

3. Select the examination type

Select SSCE Internal (Jun/Jul) for candidates who took the school-based examination.

4. Enter the token

Enter the valid result-checking token in the required field.

5. Enter the registration number

Provide the candidate’s NECO examination registration number.

6. Check the result

Click “Check my result”. If the information entered is correct and the result is available, the candidate’s result will be displayed.

The 2026 SSCE Internal recorded:

1,378,048 candidates registered.
1,371,992 candidates sat for the examination.
804,948, or 58.67 per cent, obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
1,162,118, or 84.70 per cent, obtained five credits irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
1,406 candidates were involved in reported examination malpractice.
1,334 candidates with special needs participated.
