The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has uncovered two additional fake government agencies allegedly linked to Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi as investigations into the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) continue.
ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu disclosed the findings after presenting an interim investigation report to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Aliyu, investigators established that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Nigerian government and that the PFIPC had no legal backing, having neither been created by an Act of the National Assembly nor by an executive order.
The commission identified the two additional agencies as the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, alleging they were created with forged legislative instruments and used to open bank accounts for illegal activities.
Aliyu also said the fake PFIPC operated from the former Presidential Economic Advisory Council office and relied on forged appointment documents while exploiting weaknesses in government verification processes.
The ICPC recommended Adeyemi’s prosecution, disciplinary action against public officials allegedly linked to the scheme and reforms to strengthen internal controls across government institutions.
The commission said investigations remain ongoing to identify additional collaborators and prepare criminal charges that can withstand judicial scrutiny.
