The head of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, has accused the United States of violating the ceasefire, saying Washington attacked Iran while negotiations were ongoing.

In two posts on X, Azizi alleged that “the U.S. attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations once again” and described the action as “a reckless violation of the ceasefire.”

“The failed U.S. President has shown he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation or a ceasefire,” Azizi wrote, adding that the latest attack “will, as always, lead to retreat and regret on their part,”  Azizi wrote in a post.

In a second post, he repeated the accusation, writing: “Once again, America has attacked Iran in the midst of negotiations.”

“The failed U.S. president has once again proven that he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation and ceasefire,” he said, adding, “Certainly, this reckless violation of the ceasefire by America will, as always, lead to their retreat and regret.”

Azizi also dismissed any attempt by Washington to shift responsibility for the latest escalation, stating: “The blame game does not work anymore.”

His comments came after the United States carried out strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar positions, saying the operation was a response to what the US Central Command described as “unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces” following an alleged Iranian drone attack on a cargo vessel.

The strikes have further strained a fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns over renewed hostilities as both sides continue negotiations aimed at reaching a broader settlement to the conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

While Iranian officials have accused Washington of violating the ceasefire, US officials maintain that the operation was a defensive response to actions they say breached the truce.

The competing claims reflect the deep mistrust between the two countries despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from escalating further.
