Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has said that a potential agreement between Iran and the United States “has never been closer,” as both sides edge toward a possible deal to resolve tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X(formerly Twitter) on Friday, Araghchi said the proposed “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” was nearing completion, adding that discussions had progressed significantly but were not yet finalised.
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalisation, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.…

He cautioned against speculation over the details of the emerging agreement, urging media organisations to avoid circulating unverified information until the process is concluded.

According to him, the full terms of the understanding would be made public once final agreement is reached, in line with what he described as a transparent and responsible approach.
His comments come as expectations of a breakthrough grow, despite ongoing tensions and unresolved issues in the negotiations.
Earlier, United States President Donald Trump dismissed reports circulating in Iranian media about the deal, insisting that the alleged details did not reflect any agreed terms between both sides.
Negotiations between Washington and Tehran have continued in recent weeks as both countries explore possible pathways to de-escalate tensions in the region.
